“I'll get it later.” Famous last words…
Friends -
My laptop literally ended up on an I-70 onramp…
A ranch dude from nearby Central Valley found it on the onramp on his way (and I'm not making this up) to haul cows off the mountain before the first snow…bet he didn't expect that!
Before I tell you how this applies to selling your home for the most money, we need to go back to the start.
My 18-year-old Matt and I were on our way to the last regular season high school mountain bike race in Gunnison, Utah…
Yes, they have trails out there, really cool ones!
Because we left late (as usual), we were rushing to get to the venue in time for a pre-ride of the course before they closed it in the dark. Enter Jeremy's laptop hitting the freeway…
We pulled into the gas station at the Joseph exit, near Richfield. We were in a rush and trying to save time.
I quickly sifted through the car—bike helmets, bags—and set my backpack on the roof just long enough to change.
That's when things went wrong…
One hour later, as we pulled into the race venue, I saw an incoming phone call from a Richfield number…
”That's odd, we just drove through there! Maybe it's a lead who wants to purchase one of our homes…”
Unfortunately, but really kinda sorta, fortunately, it was not.
It was Coby, the rancher heading up to get his cows. “Hey, did you lose a laptop bag or somethin' near Richfield?”
Whoops. “I just put it there for a minute…besides, we were late!"
THANK HEAVEN there are still good people in the world who:
- Stop to pick up someone's backpack while pulling a cattle trailer, and,
- Care enough to return the contents rather than keep them.
That said, an important question must be asked, lest I pull this crap again: How did this happen?
Because I was in a hurry.
My body was running faster than my brain could keep up, and I just about lost a laptop on I-70.
I frequently see this when folks put their home on the market…
While moving an entire family or home may not seem like an impulsive idea, you'd be shocked at how many Sellers absolutely rush once they decide to move.
“How soon can we get the home on the market? How soon can you get photography? Do we really need to _______ (insert almost any manner of prep that requires time and money)?”
All valid questions. But the questions aren't the problem…
It's the borderline panic and rushing the home to market to get wherever they're going that gets em'.
And that panic costs Sellers lots-o'-money. In most cases, tens of thousands.
I want you to win when you sell your home. I really do. And the best way to make that happen is to slowwwwww…wayyyyyy…downnnn…
We utilize a comprehensive pre-marketing system to help Sellers:
- Reduce stress
- Shorten the process (rather than lengthen it)
- Sell their home for more money
I recently spent two full months preparing my own home for sale in Downtown St. George. 8 offers later and a final sales price of $30k over my asking price tell me it was worth it :).
If you'd like a copy of the exact 34-step home prep checklist that has helped our Sellers consistently get better than market prices for their homes for 19.31 years…
And that I used to sell not one, but two of my own properties this year, just reply to this email.
I'm always happy to answer any questions you have about the home-selling process or your specific home.
Until then, a big thanks to Coby in Central Valley, Utah, and please put your backpack in the car!
