Hey guys -

This last August, we tied the knot! Or whatever the kids say these days. Only we're not kids.

I turned 50 this summer, and apparently, Hallmark owes me royalties because I actually did marry my best friend.

Beyond the magic of the day itself, here are five life (and real estate) lessons we learned from our wedding:

1. Don't wish it away—it goes faster than you think.

Big moments, like launching a new business, hiring your first assistant, and hitting your next GCI goal - come with months of buildup, planning, emotions, and stress.

And then POOF... they're gone.

Our wedding felt like it was forever away, until suddenly it wasn't.

Real Estate can be all-consuming…be careful that you don't look back wishing you had slowed down to enjoy the climb instead of racing to “arrive.”

2. Big (important) moves bring resistance. Expect it.

Two days before the wedding, we both hit the wall…migraines, emotions, the works.

That's business too.

Right before you break through to the next level, you'll almost always want to quit. The devil stands at the door of what matters most.

Expect resistance. It's the toll you pay on the road to growth.

3. Hard doesn't mean wrong. It often means that it's right.

The morning after the chaos, we woke up with total clarity.

What had felt heavy suddenly felt right.

Sometimes the frustration, the “no” from a prospect, or the messy middle of your business isn't a signal to stop. It's confirmation you're in the right arena.

4. The family that sweats together, sticks together.

We thought we'd save money and set up our own tent for 120 people.

Spoiler: it looked smaller on paper.

But everyone jumped in, lifting, decorating, sweating, laughing. And it bonded us.

That's your team, your brokerage, your mastermind.

When you struggle together through slow quarters, system changes, and demanding clients, you build something money can't buy: trust.

5. The best things are worth the struggle.

Marriage. Parenthood. Scaling a business and launching a new program.

All of it feels messy before it feels meaningful.

And yet, the reward…impact, income, and freedom, are worth every migraine, late night, and busted tent pole along the way.

The Next Chapter…

Twenty minutes before the ceremony, Jen, still in grubby clothes but with her veil pinned on, marched through a house full of relatives and shouted:

“Everyone out! The wedding is outside!”

I caught it on video, and I'll cherish it forever.

That's leadership.

Clarity in the chaos. The moment you stop asking for permission and start directing the mission.
