Most folks only think of Southern Utah as a "Sun-lover's" paradise...the "place where the summer sun spends the winter" as the old St. George slogan read. Well guess what? We've got world-class powder and high-elevation skiing less than 90 minutes from St. George!

In this video Jeremy Larkin introduces you to Brianhead Resort, the place he's been skiing since he was 12 years old, and where he now enjoys skiing and snowboarding with his OWN kids! This family-friendly ski destination is also gorgeous in the summer as it's about 30 degrees cooler than St. George, and offers widely affordable mountain real estate when compared with other US ski resorts.

We just sold this (beautiful) Serenity Hills home in St. George's most popular area, Little Valley for the Reber family - amazing people! While it seems like it would have been an "easy sale", it was competing with newer Crafstman style homes that have taken Little Valley by storm.

Jeremy Larkin discusses how some subtle and inexpensive updates made the difference that led to a fast and profitable sale for the Rebers!

Zion National Park: Angels Landing

by Kendall Clements, Escape Properties

Looking for a hike that's TOUGH, FUN, and amazingly beautiful? Then the Angels Landing hike is the hike for you!

Let me explain a little bit about this hike in Zion National Park: it is about 5 miles to reach the pinnacle of this hike, the first two miles are paved trails to make it easy, but then the last half mile is hiking up a rock with support chains until you reach the top! Most of the trail is always sunny, so make sure you bring your sun screen! Also, this hike takes about 4-5 hours for the average person to complete, so it is suggested that you do not start this hike later in the evening. This hike is a great early morning hike! Permits are not required to hike this!

In Zion National Park, there are so many unique wildlife that you will see if you go there and hike the hikes. The sights are a natural wonder as well! With the unique weather here in Southern Utah, the nature in the area is so unique and beautiful! So if you enjoy the idea of a really strenuous hike that will leave you tired after, this is the hike for you!

St. George City Golf Club

by Kendall Clements, Escape Properties

St. George City Golf Club is a “need-to-play” type of course. One of the biggest activities in Southern Utah and surrounding areas is golfing. Therefore, we have some amazing golf courses around town that are worth going to if you are the type of person that loves to golf.

Located in an area known as "Bloomington Hills", this is one of St. George's favored golf courses. This course is very unique in the fact that this one is run by the St. George City itself. It's been running for 30+ years and is considered a "traditional" 18-hole course. Because it is an older course, the fairways are wide open and greens are less risky.

The price for an 18-hole game is between $22-$33, depending on the time of year you decide to go golfing. They also have many events to choose from! So come to St. George and try golfing here for yourself!

St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm

by Jeremy Larkin

The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site is an awesome way to take a glimpse back into the Jurassic age! Just in case you thought that St. George couldn't get any cooler, I'm here to tell you that that isn't true! We also have one of the best preserved and numerous dinosaur tracks today! So if you are interested in this, here is some background:

Dr. Shelton Johnson was leveling the soil on his land for farming, when he suddenly found a harder Sedimentary Rock formation. Curious, he looked more thoroughly and found that they were dinosaur tracks! Knowing they should be maintained for education and science, he donated the land with the tracks on it to the City of St. George, which then created the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm to display some of the findings.

The Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm museum is open Monday-Saturday from 10AM to 5PM, and closed on holidays. A great way to stay out of the cold this winter, It costs $6 for an adult and $3 for children 3-11. Children under 3 are free. Go to www.dinosite.org for more information on the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm.

The Mammals of Zion National Park

by Kendall Clements, Escape Properties

Zion National Park offers so many wonderful things to see, especially the wildlife. And when I say wildlife, I mean the animals that live there! When you visit Zion National Park, you will most likely see one or two of these mammals, so why don't you get a bit acquainted with them now?

Mule Deer Zion National ParkMule Deer: This is one of the largest mammals that is found in Zion National Park. They are known for being very adaptive to the heat. This is due to their 9-inch mule-like ears because the blood vessels are close to the skins surface, which help disperse the heat. A picture of a mule deer is to the right.

Rock Squirrel: These are squirrels that prefer rocky terrain. They love the canyon walls and the waterways, so you might see them along the Riverside Walk. Squirrels have a decent amount of water in Zion, but if there is a drought, rock squirrels can go 100 days without water.

Ringtail Cat: This animal is related to the raccoon and are very abundant in Zion National Park. They don't like to be out in the dark, so you would see them in the middle of the day most likely. They can climb very well, so they do well in Zion National Park.  A picture is to the right.

Mountain Lion: This is the top predator in Zion National Park. They are very efficient hunters and are very silent when they stalk their prey, which are generally the mule deer and bighorn sheep.

There are so many animals in Zion National Park that you would need to take a trip to see the amazing wildlife they have! It's beautiful almost all year round, other than occasional winter snows (which melt quickly), and of course oppressive afternoon summer heat – gotta go early! Not only that, it’s the perfect place to hike, camp, and just be outdoors! Feel free to contact me below for more information about Zion National Park.
